In support of its mission and objectives, QCF introduces in September a series of Career Guidance Stakeholders Engagement and Professional Development initiative. The program will be inaugurated by a half-day workshop for career counselors and guidance practitioners, and the proceedings will include two target groups:

  1. Group 1 will review the outcomes of the Professionalization of Career Guidance Practices Focus Group discussions, which were held during the Career Guidance Stakeholders Platform in May 2016, and chart ways forward. It will also pave the way for the agenda and preparations of the 2017 Platform event. Discussions will be facilitated primarily in Arabic.

Objectives:

  • To review and validate the findings of the Professionalization of Career Guidance Practices Focus Group discussions conducted during the Career Guidance Stakeholders Platform held in May 2016.
  • To introduce and prepare different focus group participants of the upcoming 2017 event in order to formulate a strong committee, which will subsequently work on different issues related to career guidance professionalization.
  • To discuss how to meet the needs of practitioners, as well as forms and types of new Professional Development initiatives.
  • To present, discuss, evaluate and/or advocate current career guidance and development initiatives from QCF tailored for students and explore how we can foster collaboration with schools and counselors to increase participation of students in career guidance related programs.
  1. Group 2 will assess the experience of the CATC participants with the QCF Career Advising System and suggest program enhancements, implementation timeline and evaluation strategy. Discussions will be facilitated primarily in English and will include online surveys, online submission of assignments, discussion forum, and group areas. Participants are required to bring a laptop or iPad.

Objectives:

  • To help participants acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need in order to effectively implement career related programs with the use of technology-based tools in schools. To that end, the workshop is consciously designed to facilitate acquisition of progressive skills, including basic career exploration and preparation skills, information technology-based career development skills and career planning skills for students.
  • To conduct a usability and functionality evaluation based on fundamental elements of learner-centered assessment with the use of online surveys and guided group discussion
  • To generate feedback that can be used as evidence-based recommendations for the program enhancement.
